Bath Time!

Will LOVES his bath time. We recently started just bathing him in the actually bath tub as apposed to bathing him in his infant tub. He loves to lay in the water and splash. I think we have the makings of a swimmer!

6 Months

I can not believe that my baby is 6 months old! Oh my, time does fly. Today was Will's 6 month check up. Here are his stats:

Head-18 in, 90th percentile
Weight-18 lbs 10 oz, 66th percentile
Height-28 1/2 in, 95th percentile

He's a monster! I can't believe how big he's gotten! Here are some of the awesome things he's doing right now.

• Wearing 6-9 months clothing. He's almost grown out of it but we don't have much in the way of 12 month clothes so I'm trying to stretch the 6-9 ones as long as I can.
  
• Eating solids. He LOVES baby food, even the yucky meat baby food. It seems like he is constantly eating and always wants more.
• Scooting. He scoots all over the living room, mostly left to right or in a circle, not yet forward or backward. I'm fully OK with that because I am so not ready to have a mobile baby.
• Kicking. He really loves to move his legs, really any part of his body. He is constantly moving some extremity or another. Maybe that why he so thin even though he eats so much, mmm...maybe I should try that :)
• Sitting mostly without help. He can sit for 30 seconds or so without any help but then he falls over.
• Grabbing his feet. It took some coaxing but Will has finally found his feet. I think it has something to do with the fact that he doesn't do much back time and so we needed to show Will about his feet, but he loves to grab them and I think he would put them in his mouth but his legs are too long Sad, I know.
  
• Saying "ma...ma" and "ba...ba". I say his first word is mama but Stephen hasn't called it yet :)
• He loves to play peek-a-boo and play on the floor with his parents.
• He's still a happy little boy who smiles at EVERYONE. Sometimes it takes a little while for him to warm up to strangers but eventually he'll smile at them.
• He's so loving and peaceful.
• He loves books and music. Some of his favorites include Clifford the Big Red Dog, The Rainbow Fish, and One Fish, Two Fish. He also loves the Childrens' Song Book Songs, he listens to them every night as he goes to bed.
  
• My favorite time of the day is bed time because that's when we do family scripture study and family prayer. I also get to read to Will and cuddle with him.
  
• He loves his daddy and gets so excited when Stephen gets home from school.

I'm sure there are so many more things that he is up to but I didn't want to make this post too long. Also I think pictures are important so here are some of the most recent ones of Will.

Confessions of an Unexperienced Mommy

This post is for my dear friend, Jessie. She inspires me to be honest with people concerning my inexperience of being a mommy. So, Jessie here are some of my own confessions.

1. Some days Will and I lay on the floor all day long playing. I don't get anything done, no homework, no housework, nothing. I know that once I have more children times like these will be scarce and hard to come by so I don't really care that nothing gets done, just that I get to spend time with my little man.

2. I really, really hate doing the dishes. When I was younger I would pay my brothers and sisters to do my dishes when it was my turn. Now, Stephen does all the dishes, it was something we decided before we even got married. As long as I cook (and even when I don't), Stephen will do the dishes. I love him!

3. I really enjoy scrubbing the toilet. I get some sort of sick pleasure out of making that toilet bowl shiny and clean and knowing you could drink out of it if you wanted to (not that I ever have).

4. Some days, the only people I talk to are Will and Stephen. Will doesn't really talk back so when Stephen gets home from school I talk non-stop for half an hour before I wind down. Stephen, being the amazing husband that he is, sits and listens without complaint.

5. I really don't like snow. It's yucky and cold. It's also really slippery, which for me, the klutz, is not a great thing. I am also afraid to drive in it.

6. Every time I give someone a haircut I cut myself, always in the same place. I even have a scar there.

7. One of the most sexy things about Stephen are his ear lobes. I know what you're thinking, ear lobes? Really? But I love Stephen's ear lobes, they are perfectly shaped and SO sexy!

8. I may be a bad mommy but I laugh at Will when he gets upset. Not really upset, but when he gets frustrated with something or someone and makes the cutest face, I just laugh at him.

9. Our Routine: Get up when Will does. Give him a bottle. Do some stretches and exercises for his torticollis (Wondering what that is? The answer is for another post, not something to worry too much about though, just something frustrating). Have breakfast. Play on the floor, or Will will play on the floor while I try to get something done. Nap time at 10:00. While, Will's asleep I try to get some homework done or I nap or I try to do something for me and shower. When Will wakes up, usually around 12:30-1, Will gets dressed and we have lunch. We then either run errands or hang out at home because it's too cold to go outside. When it gets warmer I want to go outside and play but until then, we're stuck in the house. At about 3-3:30, Will gets a snack and takes a nap. This is usually when Stephen gets home, so I get to talk his sexy ears off for a little while ;). After a little chatting I start thinking about dinner. I love the crock pot and easy dinners and I try to plan dinners the weekend before so I have all the ingredients I need. Some days, however, I just don't feel like cooking so we have something packaged from the freezer. Anyway, after dinner Stephen does homework while Will and I play some more. Around 7:30 Will gets ready for bed. Either Stephen or myself read him stories or tell him stories about how we met or the day he was born. We then read some scriptures, only 3 but we have to start somewhere, and say a family prayer and put Will to bed. Stephen and I thee relax for a little while and watch some TV. Then it's bed time and we get ready to do it all over again the next day.

10. Like my friend, Jessie, I LOVE being a mommy. I couldn't ask for a better job. It is the most challenging thing I have ever done or will ever do but also the most worthwhile. I can't wait to have more little babies for Will to play with and make me crazy!

Les Madeleines and Temple Square

This last Saturday Stephen, Will and I went up to Salt Lake to go to Temple Square with my sister's family. On the way to Temple Square we stopped at the most AMAZING little restaurant for lunch, Les Madeleines. We has great sandwiches but the best part was the Kouing Aman. A flaky, sweet, salty, amazing pastry. It was one of the most incredible things I've ever eaten!!Kouing Aman

So after amazingness we met up with my sister's family at Temple Square. It was a tad cold so we didn't stay long but we did get some cute pictures.

The Incredible Eating Will

So Will has taken to eating solid by storm. He LOVES baby food, rice cereal, basically anything new you put in his mouth he gets excited about and squeals with delight. He has also taken to feeding himself bottles. It's pretty cute to watch him feed himself and see how proud he is of himself.

Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day...yeah, I know it's late but really I have a almost 5 month old baby, I can't always be on time. Stephen and I had a Valentine's Day weekend instead of just a day, because really, one day? Nah, we go big, the whole weekend.

Ok, sorry I got distracted. So some hi-lights of the weekend are Tai Ruby (the best Tai food EVER!), going to see Tron, my flowers and making dinner with Stephen. We're pretty poor students so I don't get flowers too often but Stephen goes all out for Valentine's Day. I love my husband! We also made dinner together, which is not something that we get to do often. It was SO much fun to crowd in our small kitchen and cook together, it reminds me of when we were dating and we would look up recipes and make them together.

4 Months

Yesterday Will had his 4 month check up. Here are his stats:

Weight: 15 lb 5 oz - 56th percentile
Height: 26 in - 80th percentile
Head: 17 in - 70th percentile

He is such an amazing baby! Here are a few things he loves (and I love about him) right now:

• smiling and laughing a lot
  
• playing with his toys, especially the light up ones
• eating rice cereal
• trying new uber pureed baby food
  
• trying to feed himself by grabbing the spoon right before it goes into his mouth and SHOVING it into his mouth
• scooting around in a circle, trying to figure out how to go straight.
• his mobile, he could watch that for hours, sometimes I even find him talking to it when I come and get him in the morning :)
• his thumb, yup, he found it and he loves it
• putting things in his mouth, anything he can reach, he puts them in his mouth
• meeting new people, especially girls, oh boy
• talking to mom and dad
• sleeping in his new crib, in his new room
• sitting in his bumbo and watching mommy cook
• trying to sit up by himself
• looking in the mirror at a handsome baby boy
• swinging at the park
• sitting in a high chair with the grownups
• sitting in the cart by himself
• going on walks through the mall with mom and dad because it's too cold to walk outside

Jut to name a few. This kid has both Stephen and I wrapped around his perfect little fingers, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

For the last month Will has been watching Stephen and I eat, tracking every forkful with his eyes. So on Sunday we decided to try him on rice cereal. It was quite an adventure, but he LOVED rice cereal! He ate the entire bowl and wanted more but I didn't want to push it. He then slept 13 1/2 hours without making a peep, I LOVE RICE CEREAL!

He just kept eating and eating!

Christmas, Part 2

The week after Christmas was spent being "tourists". We took Will to the San Diego Wild Animal Park, the Zoo and the beach. He LOVED the beach, the Zoo and the Wild Animal Park were less of a hit. Will couldn't of cared less about the animals but he really dug the trees.

Christmas Part 1

So many things happens over the Christmas break! Will had his 3 month birthday, he had his first Christmas, and he had his first haircut, just to name a few things. So get ready for a crazy load of pictures!
